Chapin American Legion Post 193

American Legion Riders

Chapin Chapter 193

The American Legion Riders are the fastest-growing program of The American Legion. The American Legion has 55 departments, one in each of the 50 states, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico, the Philippines, and the District of Columbia. These Departments comprise more than 12,000 posts and have almost 2 million members. Here in South Carolina, we have 162 posts and almost 20,000 members. To join The American Legion, you must have served at least one day of active duty since December 7, 1941, and were honorably discharged. Also, if you are on active duty and still serving honorably, you are eligible to join.

American Legion Riders 193 (ALR 193) is a program of Chapin American Legion Post 193. ALR 193 was chartered by Post 193 in 2010 and since that time has become an integral part of post operations in supporting the 4 goals of The American Legion. Those 4 goals are, DEFENSE,  AMERICANISM,  VETERANS,  and YOUTH.  ALR 193 accomplishes this task through activities such as the Veterans Day Parade where we visit the schools in the community, Flag Bearers for the Chapin Labor Day Parade, burial of unclaimed veterans, assisting Post 193 in our Boot Drive, placing flags around town for Memorial Day, and assisting the Post when needed.

To become a member of ALR 193, you must first be a member of Post 193, a member of American Legion Auxiliary 193, or a member of Sons of The American Legion.  You must also have a motorcycle of at least 350 ccs. Our Post and Auxiliary meet the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Post at 102 Lexington Avenue, Chapin.  The Riders meet on the third Tuesday at the Post at 7:00 p.m.
